Even though I’ve seen his feet countless times, he refuses to sleep barefoot. What I don’t get is… why does it have to be his dress socks 😜
I’m just going to go ahead and blame Mackenzie for my recent relentless nonstop trips to the dentist lately. Éclairs for the coworkers today #fatfriday
Croissant with dark chocolate, I would marry you! But the man who made this, I’d spend the majority of my life with you ;) unbelievably delicious! #BakesbyKenz
I know other professions have their own types of stresses and ahh-haa moments but I just wanted to share a bit of what it’s like for a technology nut. I’m in the Information Technology field but I do some consulting for other nonprofit orgs in regard to their website and databases. Until my current job, I had always avoided IT even though it’s what I knew most and I never understood why. Like really, “April you have your bachelor’s in IT why don’t you want to be in an IT position?” Good question April.
In the last months in trying to transition my company into an updated database and getting my other organizations to utilize their own databases correctly, I figured out why I was so hesitant. The amount of ups and downs these types of positions have is relentless. I mean technology is supposed to be a fix-it and improve type field and the people behind it have the type of mind to implement the fix-it and improve solutions. Believe me in IT, if you can’t make something work as it’s supposed to, you feel like a nobody, downright depressed, like an idiot, that is, until you figure it out. But the moment you do (it may take hours, days, even weeks) but oh my when you figure it out, it’s UPLIFTING, instant makeover, to say the least. You seriously feel like a genius! And sometimes you indeed have to be.
Today, it took me more than a year to figure out one of the most easiest things about my database that I was so scared to try. And it was easy, mind blowing easy! I did it everyday and didn’t know it. I just had to change my approach, my way of thinking, and it was as simple as building a query. I hate IT for the downs and the impact it can have on life outside of work, but the ups are something else. It’s like learning something new about yourself. The digital world can be hard, hard to maintain, but it always makes you think. Think think think. I think I even love IT :)
